Headgear
Some patients require headgear to apply a backward
force to the teeth. This looks a little clumsy, but patients
do adapt quickly and find it comfortable enough to wear - it's
a bit like putting a hat on! It is usually worn at night,
and when around the house during the evening, although those
who do wear headgear during the day can help to speed up the
process of treatment! |

Headgear may be required with any fixed or removable
appliance, whether provided under the NHS or Privately. It is often
used to move teeth backwards to create some space and therefore avoid
the need to remove teeth.
The following pictures show the same patient before
and after the use of head-gear.
