Dr Alsop qualified as a dental surgeon in 1979 from the University College Hospital, London University. This was followed by three years of hospital jobs mainly in oral surgery but also in other disciplines including children's dentistry.  He also worked for three years as a general dental practitioner in Hertfordshire. This was followed by a three year orthodontic post in Nottingham culminating in his orthodontic qualification from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow.  Dr Alsop has worked as a specialist orthodontist since spending four years in Reading and eight years in Redland, Bristol before moving to the Kingswood Orthodontic Centre in 1999 where he continues to work full-time.
