Bristol Orthodontics - Practices dedicated to Orthodontics 1. The impressions that the orthodontist took of your teeth are made into plaster models on which the appliance is made.

The model technician pours plaster into the moulds and, once set, the models are trimmed ready for the dental technician to make the brace.

A sheet of special plastic is fixed above the model and heated until extremely flexible.

The vacuum ensures the plastic forms perfectly around the teeth, making an accurate copy.

The appliance is trimmed so that it covers all the teeth in the mouth.

5. Once removed from the sheet, the plaster model is detached.

All the cut edges need smoothing with a rubber point.

6. These edges are then polished until smooth using a Lisco TM disc.

Without this the appliance could be uncomfortable.
