Practice News
Great George Street Orthodontic Centre opened in December 1996. The Centre - on five floors of the building - now has six treatment areas, plus a consultation room, x-ray room, sterilisation areas and a large reception and patient lounge. Our team keep very fit running up and down our four sets of stairs, and our builders and specialist equipment suppliers have just completed our third phase of major improvements to the building and facilities in order that Great George Street remains at the forefront of the Orthodontic world!  Five of our specialist orthodontists work at Great George Street Orthodontic Centre and are helped by our large team of orthodontic nurses, PCDs (orthodontic auxiliary) and receptionists.

The reception area is your first point of contact with the practice. It is fully computerised and staffed at most times by at least two receptionists. They are responsible for checking you in and out of the practice, making appointments and taking telephone enquiries.

Once you have checked in with a receptionist, if your orthodontist is not available to see you immediately, there is a patient lounge in which you may take a seat. It is fully air-conditioned for your comfort and there is a television and a selection of magazines to read.

Bristol Orthodontics - Practices dedicated to Orthodontics This is one of the six treatment areas in the practice. The equipment is all very new and the minimalist design helps make it easy to keep clean and tidy. Each chair is fully computerised and the area is again climate controlled.

During a busy session, the orthodontist may work between two treatment areas. This is to allow the nurses adequate time to thoroughly clean and disinfect each area in between patients.

Bristol Orthodontics - Practices dedicated to Orthodontics As part of the orthodontic examination, it is often necessary to take radiographs (x-rays). We have very modern machines to enable us to take the best possible images. The x-ray room and our procedures are carefully designed for your maximum protection against unnecessary exposure to radiation. We also take care to send copies of our x-rays to your dentist to avoid the need for unnecessary duplication.

Bristol Orthodontics - Practices dedicated to Orthodontics The sterilization room is where the instruments are cleaned and sterilized. We use as many disposable itemsas possible at each treatment for the protection of all our patients, but any instruments we have to re-use are sterilised at 134˚C every time they are touched. This ensures that there is no risk of cross-infection between patients.

Practice Opening hours: Monday - Thursday: 8.30am - 4.30pm, Friday: 8.00am - 4.00pm. Appointments available at other times for Private Patients.

Disabled access is difficult as all our treatment areas are either upstairs or downstairs. Please let us know before you visit us if you will need help.
