Emergencies Emergency situations in orthodontic treatment are very rare indeed and the Health Authority therefore does not fund an emergency service for orthodontic practices. In the unlikely event of a genuine emergency occurring outside normal hours whilst under orthodontic treatment (and this does not include events such as having a loose bracket), please contact your own dentist or your local emergency dental services. If you break an appliance, or have a problem with it, do contact us or telephone us as soon as you can during normal hours. We will see you as soon as we can (usually the same day) to relieve any pain, remove problem appliance parts and if possible repair the appliance. Failing this, we will make you another appointment as soon as possible to repair the appliance. In the meantime though, if any parts of your brace feel sharp, place some of the wax we have given you over these parts to stop them rubbing. To relieve discomfort in the first few days of wearing your appliance, your normal simple pain relief tablets should be taken. |
